Facility

Founded in 1958, (EPRE) has enjoyed success in nearly every form of motorsports for almost 63 years.

Ed Pink Racing Engines has been located at the current Van Nuys, California facility since 1965.  The facility encompasses two buildings totaling approximately 12,000 square feet of floor space.  In 1999, the primary building was doubled in size with the acquisition of the adjoining building.

In 2008 Legendary race engine builder, Ed Pink announced the sale of Ed Pink Racing Engines to successful businessman, vintage racecar collector and racer Tom Malloy, who also owns Trench Shoring Company.

“It’s funny how things happen,” said Tom Malloy.  “I became acquainted with Ed’s operation as EPRE was re-building a big block engine for my Can-Am car.  I noticed the attention to details and the ability to do all the work necessary in house.  That impressed me.

“I knew of Ed’s interest in selling the business and became more interested as the rebuild went along – some months later we did the deal.” He continued.  “I am thrilled about the sale and Ed wanting to stay on.  EPRE has a spectacular history, which now I get to share in.  I look forward to working with Ed, Frank and the rest of the EPRE team as we enter this next chapter together.”

The Company and the facility are both very departmentalized in their organization.  This method allows a smooth flow of the projects through the specialized departments, while also promoting good communication within the organization.  The various departments include:  engineering, engine shop, multiple machine shops, particle inspection, fabrication, parts, quality inspection, and dynamometer rooms.

The Company uses the latest versions of CAD solid modeling and three-dimensional software systems in the engineering office.  The newest Depac data collection system on both dynamometers.  Two Haas CNC vertical machining centers produce some of the Company’s components, while all components pass through QC inspection including the Brown and Sharpe Coordinate Measuring Machine.

EPRE’s mission is to produce the best racing engine and components in the industry and the Company continues to upgrade its facility as necessary to keep step with the latest in technology and services.
