DAVE STEELE TAKES '9 RACING'
AND TOYOTA TO ANOTHER VICTORY
The Ed Pink Prepared Toyota
Wins Another USAC Midget Race
Dave Steele led every lap of the "Toyota
Sprint/Midget Classic" Midget Race at ORP in Indianapolis on the
Formula One race weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Steele drove the Steve Lewis owned # 91 '9 Racing' Toyota entry to
victory in front of a very large, truly international crowd.
Ed Pink Racing Engines, TRD,
and '9 Racing' Continue Toyota Engine Development
'9 Racing' continues racing and testing with
the new EPRE prepared Toyota power plant at USAC National
championship races. At the 49th Joe James/Pat O'Connor Classic at
Salem Speedway on August 12th, Dave Steele was the fastest
qualifier and went on to finish 2nd. Meanwhile, '9 Racing' driver
Dave Darland continues his fierce battle with three other drivers
for the coveted USAC National Midget Driver's Championship.
Development work at EPRE continues on what has
proven to be a very powerful and reliable TRD/Toyota Racing midget
engine. Performance objectives for the engine have been surpassed.
While very rewarding, this project has been more difficult because
the Toyota engine has to overcome the unfair advantage of
additional engine displacement that has been gifted by USAC to
other engine types. This unfair advantage appears to have been
deemed necessary by USAC to allow these other engine types to
become more competitive without development work.
Currently, EPRE is working closely with TRD to
sell Toyota engines, engine kits, or engine components to Midget
racing competitors.
ED PINK RACING ENGINES POWERS DAVE
STEELE TO CONSECUTIVE USAC SILVER CROWN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ed Pink
Racing Engines Power Four Consecutive USAC Silver Crown Champions.
Dave Steele recently clinched his second
consecutive USAC Silver Crown Championship driving an EPRE Ford V-8 powered
Champ Car. On his way to the 2005 championship Steele won 4 of the series
10 races for an impressive 40 percent win ratio. Steele also secured the
2004 Silver Crown Championship using EPRE Ford V-8 race engines. JJ Yeley
won the 2003 and 2002 Silver Crown Championships with Ed Pink Racing
Engines Ford based V-8 engines.
Since entering the USAC Silver Crown Series in 2002,
EPRE's Ford V-8 race engines have won 31 percent of the races with 15 wins
in 48 events. Notably, the only Ford V-8 race engines to win in USAC
Silver Crown competition have been produced by Ed Pink Racing Engines.
The domination of this engine on the one-mile paved ovals make the EPRE
Ford V-8 the natural choice for USAC's new Super Speedway Silver Crown car
that debuts in 2006. "Engine reliability and performance will be at a
premium in these new Silver Crown cars at the super speedway events," said
Ed Pink. "We believe that our engine's record speaks for itself, making it
the obvious choice for the top teams that want to compete successfully in
this more challenging series."
Winning on a 1/4 mile paved oval in a Midget racecar one night, then
winning on a 1 mile dirt oval in a V-8 powered Silver Crown racecar the
next night, validates the talent of both the young driver and the Ted Beach
owned race team.
