History
The nucleus of Ed Pink Racing Engines (EPRE), Ed Pink brings a full range of experience to the development of auto racing engines.  Ed Pink has over 50 years of engine building experience that he applies to every project.

Over 40 years ago, Pink was dubbed 'The Old Master' by his colleagues for his vast knowledge of producing superior engine performance.  Pink is a product of the Southern California post World War II Hot Rod Era, racing first at the dry lakes and then moving to drag strips.

At the same time, Pink moved from employee to employer opening Ed Pink Racing Engines in 1961, later moving the business to it’s current location in 1965.From the beginning, Pink and his company became known for an obsession for precision, quality and producing racing engines that were as close to perfect as possible.  From the early 60’s through the mid 70’s Pink was famous for his Blown Fuel Drag Race Engines.  His winning reputation led to such famous slogans as, “Think Pink”.

Also in the 70’s, EPRE branched into other forms of motor sports producing the same legendary engine performance in Can-Am and Formula 5000 racing.  In 1977, when Cosworth brought their DFV Formula One engine to the USA, EPRE was heavily involved in the conversion of the engine from its naturally aspirated gasoline burning specification to the turbocharged, methanol burning engine that would rule the Indianapolis 500 for the next 10 years. Until the new era of engine leases by manufacturers to teams, EPRE focused its talents on Cosworth Indy engines.

The late 80’s to the early 90’s were the sports car racing years at EPRE.  First there was the Jim Busby Racing BFGoodrich Porsche 962 engine program involving the refining and building of the powerful Porsche turbocharged, air-cooled, flat 6-cylinder endurance racing engines. Then came multiple sports car racing engine development programs for Pontiac. These programs encompassed a variety of engine combinations from the carbureted V-6 powering a Trans-Am model, to the fuel injected all aluminum V-8 engines that powered the Spice prototype chassis.

During the early 90’s Ed Pink Racing Engines produced a wide variety of racing engines including USAC Silver Crown/Sprint Car and Midget racing. This led to the association with Steve Lewis of Lewis Racing and their famous #9 cars. The association of EPRE & Lewis Racing, created an all dominate package in USAC Midget Racing that continues to this day.

In the mid 90’s, Nissan brought what may have been the most difficult project ever for EPRE with its Infiniti Indy engine program.  Despite the auto manufacturer’s vacillating commitment to the program, meager budget and their association with only mid rank teams, the EPRE developed Infiniti Indy engine won its first event in 2000.

The 21st century finds EPRE expanding its influence in numerous forms of motor sports.
